What Voluntary roles are there with Wyre Forest Nightstop & Mediation?
Host
Without Hosts Wyre Forest Nightstop could not exist. Have you got what it takes to make a real difference to the lives of young homeless people?
Management Committee Member
Have you got expertise surround the issues affecting young homeless people and housing issues, would you be available to meet once a month to discuss the development of the project? Then why not join the Management Committee.
Befriender
We are at the moment establishing interest in a ‘Volunteer Befriending Service,’ whereby young people who have secured long term accommodation need help knowing how to run a home, cook, and budget etc. The Befriending scheme will involve volunteers spending time with young people helping them to learn these basic functions.
Collecting Toiletries and Clothing
The young people that use the Nightstop service often have no belongings to their name. We provide them with a toiletry pack and offer them the opportunity to look through some clothing that has been donated to the scheme. We can always use more donations. Why not collect on behalf of the service?
Crisis Prevention Team
If you are aged 16 – 25 and have experienced being homeless or have an interest in homelessness why not join our committee?
In January 2006 a young persons committee, The Crisis Prevention Team, was set up. The group is made up of young people who have been homeless or who have used the Nightstop service, and has now been opened up to include young people who want to help with homelessness issues.
The group are involved in a range of activities, from influencing the Nightstop service, to setting and judging competitions, fundraising, designing and delivering marketing strategies, holding presentations and workshops and telling their story about what it is like to be homeless.
